The Story Behind Studio Sculpt
We’re Carley and Hailey, lifelong Kernersville, NC residents who somehow always just missed crossing paths. We attended rival high schools, danced at the same studio a year apart, even went to the same college and lived just minutes away from each other—yet never met. It wasn’t until we both began working out in High Point that our paths finally aligned. From the very beginning, it felt like something meaningful was taking shape.
One night, in a casual, playful conversation between friends, we joked about whether it would be easier to start a cult or take over one. That lighthearted banter quickly evolved into a serious question: should we buy the studio we frequented, or take a chance and create something entirely our own—right here in the town where we grew up? That moment marked the beginning of Studio Sculpt and also why we refer to the studio as “Core Cult”.
Once we set our minds to something, there’s no turning back. The very next week, we toured the old Pinnix building in Downtown Kernersville. The moment we stepped inside, we knew this was the space for us—we were determined to make it happen, no matter what. Along the way, there were plenty of breakdowns, multiple payments to an Etsy witch (yes, really), and lots of crossed fingers. To be honest, that’s still how we’re operating as we get closer to opening day. (Don’t tell anyone our secret) We still have our full-time jobs to ensure that we are able to provide the best studio possible for the community. We will work ourselves into the ground, if it means that we are able to provide the most welcoming, peaceful and knowledgeable studio around.
We’re creating something fresh for Kernersville—a boutique fitness studio featuring barre, mat and reformer Pilates, sculpt, and stretch classes. Having grown up dancing, movement has always been our way to connect with ourselves, with each other, and with the world around us. It has given us confidence, discipline, and purpose—and now, we want to share that with our community.
Our goal isn’t to reinvent fitness but to create a space that feels welcoming, inspiring, and authentic—especially for women—right here in our hometown. We are just two women who believe fitness should be inviting and fun. That’s why, if you see us at a pop-up or during class, we’ll be lip-syncing, dancing, or even doing headstands. Life is short, so why not make it an enjoyable one?
From the very beginning, the support has been truly incredible. Even before we’ve officially opened, our pop-up classes have already sold out. People stop us to ask when we’re opening, how they can help, and to share how much this studio is needed here. That kind of encouragement has been both deeply emotional and motivating. It reminds us why we’re doing this—not just to open a business, but to build a community that brings people together.
What we care about most is that Studio Sculpt becomes a place where everyone feels like they belong. Hailey has Crohn’s disease and has gone through two miscarriages—experiences that have shaped how we see movement, wellness, and womanhood. We believe every woman deserves to feel safe and confident in her body, no matter what she’s gone through. We’re also really passionate about changing the narrative for young girls. Social media has created impossible body standards, and we want to be the kind of role models we wish we had growing up. We believe in strong bodies, kind hearts, food as fuel, and movement as something you get to do—not something you have to do.
That’s why we’re not just focused on workouts. Our classes are for all levels, and we’re planning monthly community events, free classes, and even offering on-site childcare so parents can take time for themselves without worrying. We don’t want this to be a space where you show up, sweat, and leave. We want it to feel like a second home—somewhere you feel better just by walking in.
We look forward to you joining us once we open. And if you have attended a pop-up ahead of our opening, we appreciate you and your support.
